PRIVATE PALACES

In conjunction with our art historian, Rome Cavalieri is delighted to offer its guests a private tour to two of the most exclusive palaces in the city, both still inhabited by members of the Pallavicini and Colonna families. The Palazzo Colonna is a treasure trove of extraordinary paintings by artists such as Poussin, Tintoretto, Veronese and Carracci. Family portraits include Vittoria Colonna, the poetess friend of Michelangelo, and Marcantonio Colonna, one of the victorious admirals at the Battle of Lepanto. With their private guide, guests achieve a deeper understanding of these palaces and their place in Roman history as well as an intimate look at the lavish domestic world of old Rome.

THE SECRETS OF VIA GIULIA

Accompanied by a private art historian, guests will revive some of the captivating legends associated with via Giulia, one of the most significant and fascinating streets of Rome, from the Church of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini, to the hidden stairways leading to Borromini's underground crypt up to the nearby Oratorio del Gonfalone, exclusively opened for the occasion. The selection will be concluded in the masterful rooms of Palazzo Sacchetti, still in private hands and closed to the public. Duration 3 hours.
